Is That Green Paper With Numbers on It Worth More Than Your Life?

I have a friend who recently found out that one of her old friends from the past, took his own life last week. That’s not even the half of it – he also took the lives of both his wife and his 2-yr-old son. Why did he do this you ask? Because he lost so much money in the stock market. As the days continued with the market crashing, he couldn’t bear to see his money – his life savings, disappear. This man took his life and the lives of two others because he didn’t know how he was going to handle life without a lot of that “green paper” with numbers on it!

All of this really makes me wonder just how much the majority of the people on this earth really believe, know, or trust God… Sure, those who are Christians know that God is in charge of everything. No matter how much we “try” to control things, He has it! Everyday, I stop and to take a look at my parents who have been blessed to remain married for thirty-nine years and thank God first for blessing me with them. Then, I thank them for teaching me who comes 1st in my life. Who my ultimate parent really is! The One I can trust when things are going good or bad. The One who protects me, when I’m under fire. The One who will come to my rescue when the stock market decides to crash. The One who knows me better than I know myself. God.

I understand that not everyone has the same thought process or the same focus or even pray to the same God. I also understand that we need a financial balance in our lives to physically survive on this earth because of man’s doing. But, to rely on pieces of green paper to create solace or comfort mentally or spiritually in your life is really frightening.

We need to take moment to remember who or what’s really important in our lives. Just stop what you’re doing – no matter how important you think it is and just reflect on the beautiful blessings God has placed upon you. Take a look at your family, your friends, yourself and appreciate what you or them have to offer – love, hugs, trust, patience or even irritation, stubbornness, or anger. Doesn’t really matter what emotion that person causes you to have in your life. The important thing is that they are in your life and you can justify where those emotions come from. Another important thing is that you love you for who you are. But, the most important thing is that you love God more than anyone or anything, including yourself. I promise you that He will take care of you.

There’s a common phrase that says, “Money makes the world go round.” But, if you take money out of the equation – that “green paper” with numbers on it, guess what, the earth still moves round. Interesting, isn’t it? Just trust. It will be okay because God will make it okay…
