Has it ever crossed your mind that the God who owns everything did not leave us money, houses or land, but He left us a book? Pre-eminently a Spiritual and historical record, the Bible reveals how those of ancient times lived and labored. With more than 300 occupations in the Bible, surely God thinks about careers.
Don't Miss
Many ask God to take them higher in their careers, without counting the moral, spiritual, psychological and intellectual cost of where they want to go. Before you can ask God to bless your career, you may want to make sure that it is kingdom built. Kingdom means the realm in which something is dominant; the eternal kinship of God; the realm in which God’s will is fulfilled. Since there is no kingdom without a King, no matter where we are in our careers, we need Christ. What if the world has the entire career process wrong?
What if it’s not the great resume, but being set apart because we are Holy? What if it’s not planning what to say in the interview, but understanding death and life is in the power of the tongue? What if it’s not dressing for success, but putting on the whole armor of God? What if it’s not competing for rapid promotions, but waiting on God to be exalted? What if it’s not striving for success, but learning to just be obedient and in the will of God?
To often we look to God for help with marriages, health, and finances and turn to the world for our careers. God has given us career advice through His word that provides a fresh perspective to handle the fresh issues believers endure daily. It is your career that God wants to use to get the glory out of your life.
When you follow God, your career aspirations are accomplished in spite of what goes on around you. Salvation gives you enough faith to move in any employment circle and still maintain who you are - - a child of God. You can apply the word of God to your career. You can give God glory through your vocation. You can have a kingdom built career.
